Expanding The Vision

Expanding The Vision

Today, I attended the Youth Climate Summit at the Natural History Museum of Utah.

Throughout the day, I listened to conversations and keynote speeches about topics like sustainable fashion, reuse, community action, and environmental stewardship. While the topics varied throughout the workshops and presentations, I noticed that they all have one ultimate goal behind them, which is to save the earth through sustainable actions, and throughout the event, I keep thinking about the same idea: stooping club is about more than redistribution, the vision of the stooping club should be expanded to more people, promoting immediate action to save our only planet.

In the stooping club, every donated item is a decision to reuse rather than discard. Volunteers, alongside the stooping club team members, help build a culture where resources stay in circulation instead of ending up in landfills. A local effort to connect unused items with new owners feels like a part of a larger community about sustainability and community responsibility.

Finally, one of the most meaningful components of the summit was connecting with leadership members of the critical action lab, sharing the stooping club’s mission, and communicating potential ways we could achieve a partnership. Those conversations reminded me that meaningful change comes from people working together with the same goal in mind from different directions.

The mission of the Stooping Club has not changed after the event; today’s experience simply expanded my understanding of where the mission of the Stooping Club fits in the broader community.
